Content, Tropes & Kinks:
- Polyam MMF with an established MM couple (please see Notes on MMF/Polyamory section).
- Hot, queer vampires.
- 1980s mall vibes (There are So. Many. 80s references and slang—see the Glossary in the back of the book if you’re hella confused).
- A snarky Valley Girl turned goth heroine (we stan a reinvention).
- A Hawaiian print-wearing sunshine vampire who’s filthy in bed.
- A broody boy vampire who’s totally emo.
- Pretty girls (and boys) who love makeup.
- “I bit her/him so they’re mine.”
- Repeated defiling of the satin lining of various coffins.
- Pussy worship and DVP with pierced equipment (on both of them!).
- Murder as a love language.
- Our girl has some psychotic tendencies as well (they just might need to be coaxed out).
- Yes, both Max’s mates smell like things that remind him of HOME (we can all collectively cry now).
- The smut-to-story ratio is a bit higher in this one…
- Yes, an entirely new spicy scene was added in this re-vamped & expanded edition.
- Max is still a pleasure Dom, but also still kind of a tease.
- Dom/sub & Sir/pet bedroom dynamics with a happy switch in the middle.
- A meet-cute and a not-so-meet-cute.
- Never take on a Valley Girl in verbal sparring—unless you wanna get BURNED.
- Realizing your flirty new boss is just an eager puppy who wants to play (oh, does he…).
- Sizzling Discourse clearly has no HR department.
- Everyone’s creepin’ on everyone (and nobody minds).
- Even long-time vampire mates suffer from the miscommunication trope.
- When the local vampire HOA (coven) totally conflicts with your independent spirit.
- Werewolves?
- The Hawaiian print is completely unironic.
- The return of the emotional support duster (since the gun-belt is no longer era-appropriate).
- WE CAN FINALLY SWEAR LIKE MODERN PEOPLE AGAIN!
- The cock-biting is just a tease (I’ll try to deliver in a future installment).
- Setting up your gender-bent hotwife with a new hot. wife. (for both of you to share, duh #vampirelogic).
- A nasty little ex-bestie you are meant to hate (but she’ll get hers—FINALLY!).
- Growly, protective men (including the one pretending to hate you).
- Demonstrating how good it feels to share your burdens with trusted individuals (hint fucking hint).
- Discovering your future boyfriends have a secret lair with coffins inside (and it’s not a deal-breaker).
- …then masturbating all over the satin lining of said coffins while fantasizing about (possibly real) hottie vampires.
- Boys wanna be her (and boys wanna wear makeup like her).
- Feelings, gross (better go jerk off in the coffin).
- “Starting without me, pet?”
- Zero prep + barely enough lube = perfection for our pain slut.
- Being delightfully gagged with dirty panties.
- Talking about fucking their third… while fucking.
- “Such a good pet when you want to be.”
- WARNING: Our broody boy gets extra emo before he finally unpacks some baggage. (And yes, there’s more about this in the Potential Triggers section at right/below.)
- “I promise, I won’t bite until you ask me to.”
- Giving a vampire the green light to put his fangs near your pussy for some proper worship.
- THIS IS NOT A DRILL! WE HAVE PERIOD SEX! (I mean, it depends what your definition of sex is, but still…)
- What’s a little squirting on your boss’s face at this point?
- Lite dress protocol & collaring (and stay tuned for dollification in part three).
- So. Much. Growly. Protectiveness.
- That feeling when you meet someone(s) who understands you perfectly (allll the found family vibes).
- An implied makeup montage (to an 80s soundtrack, of course).
- When the switch takes control of her sweet subby boy (and their Dom happily watches it—and her—go down from the shadows).
- “He’s not allowed to come again until you do.”
- Fucking in the mirror (and yes, the author decided vampires in this universe can see their reflection for this exact reason).
- Praise for our good girl, praise and degradation for our bratty boy (once he stops taking praise as punishment…).
- “C’mon, baby. Come for your mates.”
- Star has a VERY different reaction to Max’s dick than Damon did the first time he saw it…
- Baby gets a makeup line and babygirl gets a fashion line (Max can’t deny them anything).
- Threesome in the coffin with some tasty DVP.
- “Sir… pet… I want you both to turn me… Please…”
- Bitches get—way worse than—stitches (morally gray, fictional boyfriends for the win!).
- Star fits right into this tasty vampire sammich (and no, she is NOT a magical “fix”—see the Potential Triggers section at right/below for more on that).
- Damon can’t help worrying that his happiness will crumble like a certain tarot Tower.
- Max is a little too confident for his own good (dun, dun, duuuun…).
Notes on MMF/Polyamory:
- *First, a note to acknowledge that I understand some have legitimate trauma and dysphoria-related reasons for not reading ANY spicy romance with an FMC and that’s fair.
- Another note that while I understand some have experienced cheating IRL (same, girl, same), I ask that you please set aside any preconceived notions that ALL polyamory is cheating (it’s not, especially where communication and consent with all parties involved is apparent).
- All that is to say, only YOU know WHY you might not be as interested in reading this MMF continuation of an MM tale, but if you realize perhaps you simply need to expand your queer reading horizons, I fully support that!
Potential Triggers (please also check list to the left/above and note this section may contain SPOILERS):
- THE MODERN-DAY SWEARING IS BACK IN FULL EFFECT (thank fuck!), plus the usual blasphemy in the bedroom/coffin (praise the lawd!).
- And the “pet” pet-name is here to stay! Along with referring to both your pretty little mates as “playthings” (they love it, trust).
- Biting and drinking/sharing blood (these are vampires, after all).
- Recognizing your own (rich, white) privilege after the Valley Girl’s Eating People’s Faces Party has eaten your face.
- While consensual, the employee-employer conversations in this workplace are highly inappropriate (good thing everyone is—well—over 18+).
- The briefest mention of Damon’s mother dying in childbirth (way in the past at this point).
- Cuckolding with a genderbent hotwife (these consensual interactions with outside partners—which we saw a hint of in Boots—happen prior to the FMC arriving, and stop before she gets involved).
- Adding a “third” (vampire mate bond-speak) during a rough patch while also fully acknowledging that Star is NOT a magical “fix.” (PLEASE NOTE: The author does not condone opening up a human relationship while experiencing unrelated issues. THIS IS ONLY A MANUAL FOR FICTIONAL VAMPIRES!)
- And on that note, while there’s a distinct lack of discussion about adding Star at first, nothing sexual happens until there’s more discussion (both on and off page) and everyone is in FULL agreement (the connections are real).
- Max using a smidge of compulsion powers on his future mate—just to calm her down after a stressful event… aaand maybe to get her to open the window so she can hear him ask to come in (the rest is entirely up to them).
- His post-orgasm sleepytime powers is also a thing (like in Boots).
- On the flipside, he uses the full-blast of these same compulsion powers on Heather so she gives Star the apology she deserves.
- “Bitch” being used as an insult against a side character (who really is a bitch, sorry not sorry).
- “Whore” and “slut” used as an insult toward our FMC by a side character (and our sex work-positive vampires do not like it one bit).
- An incredibly delusional, toxic and narcissistic ex-bestie/ex-business partner who bullies, stalks, vandalizes, slanders, and slut-shames… and will probably trigger many who’ve dealt with such trolls in IRL (I promise, she will get hers—FINALLY! And yes, it’s a little gory…).
- SPOILER ALERT: She gets buried alive (brief explanation that hopefully won’t be too horrifying for those with claustrophobia) and when she doesn’t stay dead (as she should), gets her silly little head ripped off (after stabbing Max with a letter opener… girl…).
- When it comes to Heather, if you think this play is about YOU, maybe you should examine that.
- I can also guarantee it’s also not really about you (and you should work on those main character delusions too).
- In general, I hope my portrayal of this stereotypical (if not extreme) “mean girl” helps others realize it was not anything they did to “deserve” the abuse, and that sometimes talking about it with trusted people is the best way to shift that shame from your shoulders back to where it belongs.
- Passive-aggressive microaggressions made against Max by a side character who is depicted as 1000% racist vampire trash (he’ll get his eventually, trust).
- Short-lived romantic jealousy and related angst (misguided, as this is a true polyamorous relationship in the end).
- The terrible realization that your own lack of self-worth has driven a wedge between you and the mate you love.
- Deep insecurities rooted in internalized misogyny and masculine ideals (past incidents mentioned, but the present-day effects are very apparent).
- Past parental death briefly mentioned by FMC (no details—just her sharing her backstory).
- Multiple characters masking insecurities and trauma behind confidence and smiles.
- Don’t worry—ALL our vampires will get their asses into therapy in part three.
- And yes, this includes Max and that long-buried baggage (and subsequent dissociation) hidden beneath his sunshiney facade and heavy-handed meddling for his mates. He will be dealing with it in the next installment (whether he likes it or not).
Author’s 4/9/26 Addition: A couple people have emailed me re: Star’s period scene (in Vampires Totally Suck) and how it isn’t mentioned again. I promise, this was by design. Aside from showing that period sex can be sexy AF, I wanted to stress (through Max’s words and actions) that it was nothing for Star to be embarrassed about.
While it’s safe to assume she might still have her period the next time she gets busy with her men (barring irregular periods, which are a thing…), I don’t highlight it again because 1. As Max said, it is NOT a problem to vampires, 2. There were other things going on in that vanity scene I thought we’d rather focus on and 3. The last thing I wanted to do was traumatize my readers the way I was personally traumatized by a certain tampon removal scene in Fifty Shades of Grey.
Hopefully, that clears up any concerns and allows you to fully enjoy this vampire tale!
Vampires Totally Suck is Part Two in the Trinity of Blood vampire romance saga. There will be three time jumps (1885, 1985, and present day) for these immortal characters as they follow their fate and face the demons on their trail.
Please note: The Trinity of Blood starts as an MM romance in Bury Me With My Boots On, then becomes MMF in Parts Two (Vampires Totally Suck) and Three (Come Out & Prey).
